The rules below (“rules,“ “community guidelines”), as an extension to our Terms of Service, are what govern your use of the GRACENOTES website as a registered user to our (“GRACENOTES, INC”) platform at https://www.leavegracenotes.com AND as a member of the online Gracenotes community (“Legacy Makers”).
Registration to the GRACENOTES website is through invitation-only by means of submitting a “Gracenote”. A Gracenote is a first-person account or “snapshot” of a person’s life expressed in personal essay and/or memoir format accompanied by visual media such as photographs or video.
Each new user’s submission is carefully reviewed by GRACENOTES staff and manually approved/disapproved.
Our review process is guided by our Web Policies and outcomes of that process (i.e., approval/disapproval) are made at our sole discretion. We have the right to deny any/all submissions for any reason.
However, if a user’s submission is approved, a user registration will be created for that user to make use of our platform, whereby they will receive an invitation to log into the website so they can publish and manage their Gracenote(s) submission(s).
The purpose of this website is to act as a Arts & Humanities hub (“catalog,” “blog”) for individual people to publicly or privately share their life stories. Therefore, all actions taken by users are governed to that end, which include (but are not limited to) these Core Activities:
From time to time, users may be granted special privileges within the community, at the discretion of GRACENOTES staff. Some capacities include, but are not limited to:
Special permissions are given out rarely, and are invite-only. Users of our platform are therefore expected to act in accordance with the three Core Activities listed above. Any user seen or suspected of operating outside of these Core Activities will be subject to dismissal of our platform.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of activities that are not permitted on our platform:
The primary purposes of this website are to a) record individual life stories in written, photographic, and videographic form, and to b) build a community around what it means to live a meaningful life/legacy. We assume that your wishes to use the website are in good faith and that you will contribute meaningfully to these purposes. Therefore we ask, as a trusted user to our platform, do remember to be kind and respectful to other the community members and staff. We are trusting you to use the platform as intended to preserve life stories and legacies– if you violate that trust, you will be banned from the site and will not receive any further communications from GRACENOTES, INC unless compelled by law.
